Kowanyama Dunbar Road and Town Streets - Road Reconstruction

Dunbar Road:

This project consisted of:

  • 9kms of shoulder widening and reconstruction
  • Preparation for widening of bitumen seal
  • Loading and cartage of quarry material
  • Boxing out of shoulders and
  • Laying and compacting.
Town Streets:

This NDRRA project consisted of minor pavement repairs. Works completed consisted of:

  • Cleaning of debris from town streets i.e. mud,
  • Mill and fill of failed pavement areas using local materials
  • Preparing site for bitumen seal
  • Loading and cartage of quarry materials
  • Road profiling laying and compacting.
  • Working in an environmentally sensitive area on Cape York Peninsula
  • Working in remote areas
  • Working with limited plans, mainly just guidelines
  • Working in extreme conditions
  • Working with local indigenous employees in conjunction with the Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council

Works were carried out in an environmentally sensitive area on Cape York Peninsula.
